Since stepping in as general manager alongside Jeff Gorton, Montreal Canadiens GM Kent Hughes has completed several impressive trades.

On March 21, 2022, Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens obtained the 62nd overall pick in the 2022 draft, along with William Lagesson and a 7th-round pick in 2024.

In exchange, Hughes and Jeff Gorton traded Brett Kulak to the Edmonton Oilers.

You probably know what happened next. With the 62nd pick, the Canadiens focused on a 5-foot-10, 165-pound defenseman named Lane Hutson.
