On Thursday, the Memphis Grizzlies continued to add to the struggles of the Milwaukee Bucks by defeating them at home in a decisive 122-99 victory. Ja Morant received much of the acclaim after the game, showcasing a triple-double performance with 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 14 assists in just 29 minutes. However, Morant wasn’t the only standout; Scotty Pippen Jr. also made a significant impact, contributing 16 points on 5-of-8 shooting.

Pippen excelled on the defensive end as well, helping to limit Bucks star point guard Damian Lillard, who had a dismal night, making only one of his 12 shots and finishing with just four points. Pippen seemed particularly motivated for this matchup, stating, “One of the coaches over there didn’t believe in me, so I definitely wanted to show I can play some defense,” according to Damichael Cole of The Commercial Appeal.

While Pippen didn’t name the coach directly, his comments can be interpreted as a jab at Bucks assistant coach Darvin Ham. Before joining the Grizzlies last January, Pippen spent a season with the Lakers under Ham during the 2022-23 campaign, where he saw limited playing time, averaging only 5.3 minutes over six games. In contrast, Pippen is enjoying his time with the Grizzlies, currently averaging 10.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game while shooting 51.1 percent from the field.
