Massive Boost As Elite Four-star big man Sensation Commits To Vanderbilt Ahead of Other Prominent Programs

Jayden Leverett, the No. 140 overall recruit in the senior class, has committed to Vanderbilt.

Mark Byington has secured his second commitment for the 2025 recruiting class, this time from the Lone Star State. Today, Jayden Leverett, the 140th-ranked recruit in the senior class, announced his commitment to Vanderbilt.

“I appreciated the ongoing communication with the coaching staff,” Leverett shared about his decision. “They frequently came to watch me practice. With the new coaching staff, I really liked their approach and style of play.”

Standing 6-foot-10 and hailing from El Paso (Texas) Chapin, Leverett chose the Commodores from a final group that also included Colorado, New Mexico, and Oklahoma State. The university’s location and its reputation as a top academic institution were significant factors in his decision to pick Vanderbilt.

“I appreciate the school’s prestigious reputation,” Leverett said. “The education there would be outstanding. Nashville is also a lovely city with plenty of opportunities, which is beneficial since I plan to major in engineering.”

With Leverett’s commitment, he joins three-star athletic wing Jaylon Dean-Vines, helping Vanderbilt secure a top-30 recruiting class nationally.

Byington is acquiring a project big man in Leverett, who has a strong work ethic on the court. He’ll need to focus on gaining weight and building functional strength when he arrives in Nashville; however, with his size and competitive drive, Leverett is likely to add significant value to Vanderbilt’s frontcourt in the future.

Ranked as a four-star prospect by 247Sports, Leverett is positioned No. 140 in the national senior class.
