BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — Ferris State University quarterback Trinidad Chambliss has been named the Offensive Player of the Week by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for the second consecutive week and the third time this season.

Chambliss, a junior from Grand Rapids, led the fourth-ranked Ferris State football team to a league victory over Wayne State University this past weekend, overcoming various challenges. The Bulldogs secured a 27-14 win in a game that began on Saturday evening but was interrupted by weather and continued on Sunday.

He recorded a total of 383 yards of offense, showcasing a season-high 148 rushing yards on 16 carries along with a touchdown. In the air, he completed 22 of 38 passes for 235 yards and another touchdown.

Chambliss orchestrated a scoring drive that put Ferris State up 10-0 just before lightning caused a delay on Saturday, then extended the lead with another scoring effort late in the first half to give the Bulldogs a 17-0 advantage at halftime.

When Wayne State closed the gap to three points, Chambliss responded with a remarkable 73-yard run that set up Ferris State to score again late in the third quarter, restoring a two-score lead.

He was instrumental in all five Bulldog scoring drives and averaged 9.3 yards per carry, contributing to the team’s impressive total of over 500 yards of offense.

Now 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the GLIAC, the fourth-ranked Ferris State team will host Michigan Tech this Saturday at Top Taggart Field, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
