“Massive News” Pirates Announce 2024-25 Non-Conference Basketball Schedule

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina women’s basketball team has unveiled its twelve-game non-conference schedule. The Pirates will host six games at Minges Coliseum and compete in another six away matches.

The season kicks off at home against Charleston Southern on November 6, followed by an away game at James Madison on November 10. The team then returns to Minges for a showdown with Furman on November 14.

On November 17, the Pirates travel to Columbia, S.C. to face the South Carolina Gamecocks. After one more home game against Howard on November 20, they will head to Las Vegas for the UNLV Classic, facing off against Montana State on November 27 and UNLV on November 29.

December opens with a home game versus Elon on December 8, before the team embarks on a trip in Virginia to play Hampton on December 12 and Old Dominion on December 15. The Pirates will wrap up 2024 with two home games against VCU on December 18 and UNCW on December 21.

With 42 wins in the last two seasons (2022-23 and 2023-24), the Pirates aim to build on their success after reaching the American Athletic Conference title game for the second consecutive year. Key players returning include Captain Synia Johnson from injury, star forward Amiya Joyner for her junior year, and Tatyana and Taliyah Wyche, enhancing the depth of the talented frontcourt. The backcourt welcomes Jayla Hearp back from injury, along with junior Bobbi Smith and sophomore Khia Miller.

Graduate student Morgan Moseley, senior Kimora Jenkins, and sophomore Jade Tillman also return, adding to the team’s depth, complemented by a strong incoming freshman class and three transfer players.

Pirate Club members will have the chance to interact with the players and coaches, asking questions to learn more about the team. The cost is $ 25 per person, which includes a Parker’s BBQ meal, complimentary Pepsi products, one alcoholic drink ticket, and an opportunity to connect with this year’s roster in a small group setting.
