“Massive News” Virginia Basketball Offers Four-Star 6’9″ Power Forward Recruit In The Class of 2025
Virginia men’s basketball has extended a scholarship offer to Marcus Jackson, a four-star power forward in the class of 2025, as of Wednesday night.

Standing at 6’9″, Marcus Jackson started his high school journey at Edmondson-Westside High School in Baltimore before transferring to John Marshall High School in Richmond, Virginia, for the 2023-2024 season. Earlier this year, he announced another transfer, this time to AZ Compass Prep in Chandler, Arizona, for his senior year.
247Sports ranks Jackson as a four-star recruit, placing him as the No. 107 overall player in the class of 2025, the No. 21 power forward nationally, and the No. 4 player in Arizona. By offering him a scholarship, Virginia joins a competitive group of major conference programs pursuing Jackson, which includes Maryland, Tennessee, Auburn, Georgetown, Arizona State, Illinois, Iowa, Seton Hall, West Virginia, and others.
This summer, Jackson’s profile has only grown as he played a key role in leading Team Thrill to the UAA 17U Championship, where he averaged 15 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks per game during the UAA Finals.

Virginia hasn’t received any verbal commitments from the 2025 recruiting class yet, but has made the top list for five four-star prospects:
- PG Chance Mallory (Charlottesville, VA)
- SF Cam Ward (Washington, D.C.)
- PF London Jemison (West Hartford, CT)
- CG Derek Dixon (Washington, D.C.)
- PF Tre Singleton (Jeffersonville, IN)
The program currently has two available scholarships for the 2025-2026 season.
