“Massive Update” CBS Sports Analyst Puts Major College Football Program on ‘Fraud Alert’

After a 30-15 defeat to No. 2 Georgia last week, No. 5 Texas is under pressure to avoid a poor performance against No. 25 Vanderbilt in Nashville. The Commodores have already upset formerly-ranked No. 1 Alabama this season and have gained momentum with three consecutive wins over Alabama, Kentucky, and Ball State. With Vanderbilt’s recent success and the impressive turnaround led by head coach Clark Lea, CBS Sports analyst Danny Kanell suggests that the Commodores could pull off another surprise victory on Saturday, potentially exposing Texas again. “I have Texas on fraud alert,” Kanell stated. “I won’t label them a fraud since they’ve won all their games except against Georgia… They face a significant challenge today in Nashville against what I consider the second-best quarterback in the SEC, Diego Pavia. He has already defeated Alabama and won on the road at Kentucky, despite everyone claiming Kentucky was a great team after they beat Ole Miss. If Texas comes in wounded and complacent, thinking they just need to show up for an easy win, I believe (Pavia) could lead them to an upset.”

After transferring from New Mexico State, Pavia has revitalized his career at Vanderbilt. The senior quarterback has thrown for 1,391 yards, 11 touchdowns, and only one interception, along with three rushing touchdowns this season. He delivered one of his standout performances against Alabama, racking up 252 passing yards and two touchdowns while completing 80% of his throws. Pavia helped Vandy take a commanding 23-7 lead by the second quarter, leaving the Crimson Tide struggling to find an answer. The upcoming matchup may hinge on the performance of Texas QB Quinn Ewers, who was benched during the first half of last week’s loss to Georgia but returned to finish the game.
