Elite 2027 DL Locks in Official Visit with Michigan State Spartans football
Head coach Pat Fitzgerald and the Spartans continue to build momentum in the 2027 recruiting cycle, recently securing an official visit from one of the top defensive linemen in the class.

After months of evaluating and extending offers to priority targets, Michigan State has begun lining up official visits. Among those prospects is four-star defensive lineman Nehemiah Ombati from Shakopee High School in Minnesota.
Spartans Set to Host 4-Star Prospect
Ombati announced on X that he will take his official visit to East Lansing from June 5–7. Although Michigan State only recently offered him, the staff has quickly positioned itself as a serious player in his recruitment.
The Spartans are one of three programs with scheduled official visits this spring. Wisconsin Badgers football is set to host him on May 28, while Missouri Tigers football will welcome him on June 11.
Fitzgerald and his staff have made the trenches a focal point in the 2027 cycle, and Ombati is one of several defensive linemen expected on campus this spring.
Strong Fit for Michigan State
The 6-foot-2, 275-pound standout would be a key addition to the Spartans’ 2027 class. According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Ombati is rated No. 337 nationally, the No. 39 defensive lineman in the country, and the No. 2 overall prospect in Minnesota.
Despite Michigan State’s progress, the competition remains stiff. Rivals’ Recruiting Prediction Machine currently favors Wisconsin and Missouri, giving the Badgers a 48.8% chance to land him and the Tigers a 28.7% chance.
Still, recruitment can shift quickly. Hosting Ombati in East Lansing will give the Spartans a valuable opportunity to strengthen their relationship and potentially improve their standing before he makes a final decision.
Ombati has not yet announced a commitment date, but a choice is expected after he completes his official visits. If Michigan State can make a strong impression in June and continue building momentum, the Spartans could firmly position themselves in the race for one of the premier defensive linemen in the 2027 class.
