We mentioned last night the amazing ovation Montreal Canadiens fans gave Patrik Laine at the Bell Centre before the season opener.
It was likely one of my top three favorite moments from that memorable evening for the Tricolore.
Patrik Laine’s partner also responded, sharing an emotional message for Canadiens fans.
Additionally, we wanted to point out a subtle gesture from Martin St-Louis during that moment this morning.
This moment reflects the strong bond between Martin St-Louis and Patrik Laine. For anyone who thought Laine was a locker room issue, take another look at these images. They may have gone unnoticed, but they say a lot:

What really moved me was the gentle pat on the back that Martin St-Louis gave Laine, and you could see the joy in his eyes for his teammate at that moment.
Just look at Martin St-Louis’ expression during the ovation for Laine—wow!
We should keep in mind that Patrik Laine is expected to be back on the ice in two to three months, likely at the end of 2024 or early January 2025, due to a significant knee injury he suffered during preseason games against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Last night’s ovation will surely provide him with a big boost of motivation.
I believe the connection between Laine and Montreal is likely to last a long time, and I’m really excited about that. He’s one of the most talented players in the entire NHL!
