Minnesota Will Welcome a 4-Star Virginia Wing For an Official Visit this Weekend.
Ben Johnson’s Minnesota Gophers have identified their next wing recruit, and this highly rated player will be visiting campus this weekend for Homecoming.
The Minnesota Gophers are in search of their second 2025 recruit, who may visit campus this weekend for an official visit. GI met with Jacob Ross, a 6’5 tall individual from Virginia, this evening.
Jacob Ross, who stands at six feet five inches tall, is a 2025 player who is currently based at SoCal Academy in California. Originally from Virginia, he previously played for Team Melo in the EYBL and more recently for Team Loaded in Adidas during the summer. 247 Sports ranks Ross as the 153rd best player in the country and assigns him four stars on his profile.
The Gophers observed Ross in a game and now they are inviting him to their campus for an official visit.
Ross clarified that he has been having many conversations with Minnesota assistant coach Josh Adel. He recently spotted me at a school event here in California where I attend. He enjoyed my performance, which is why I’ve been having extensive conversations with him lately.
Ross will be present on campus this weekend for Homecoming during the football game against Maryland.
As a Power Six Conference team in the Big Ten, why wouldn’t anyone want to play at that level after high school? The program is excellent. The coaching staff made a significant stride in the correct direction last year. I am genuinely thrilled to see what it’s about.
Ross has made another visit this autumn.
Ross said that he had also been to Old Dominion. I’ve received communication from Coastal Carolina, Seattle University, ODU, and Minnesota as well.
Ross earned a spot in the 247 Rankings due to his contribution of energy, athleticism, and defense to the team, as noted by Adam Finkelstein of 247 Sports. Ross characterizes himself as follows:
