Must See: Joel Klatt Makes Shocking Prediction Concerning Texas A&M’s Playoff Chances

Texas A&M has navigated the first six games of the 2024 season with an impressive 5-1 record, leading the SEC with a perfect 3-0 start in conference play after a decisive 41-10 victory over the Missouri Tigers on Saturday. The Aggies are now looking forward to their Week 7 bye.

While many in the media expected a rebuilding phase under first-year head coach Mike Elko, the team’s talent level suggested they could overcome a manageable schedule. However, their journey hasn’t been without challenges.

After the first two games, starting quarterback Conner Weigman injured his shoulder, missing three games and allowing backup Marcel Reed to lead the team to three victories, albeit with some difficulties along the way. A notable defensive effort helped the Aggies secure a 21-17 win against Arkansas, but Reed’s accuracy issues affected the passing game.

With Weigman back in practice last week, he made his return against Missouri, completing 18 of 22 passes for 276 yards, alongside 238 rushing yards and five touchdowns. This performance solidified the Aggies’ status as one of the top teams in the SEC.

It didn’t take long for the national media to take notice. Fox Sports CFB analyst Joel Klatt has expressed support for the Aggies’ chances, stating on X, “Wrap your mind around this…@AggieFootball has a good shot at the CFP…in fact, I would put money on it right now.”

Although some fans may view this attention as “rat poison,” similar to what former Alabama head coach Nick Saban has said, it’s not surprising that analysts are acknowledging the Aggies’ achievements so far.
