“NC State Football’s Sacks Superstar Exits: Coach Dave Doeren Gets Bold To Weighs In!”

Senior defensive end Red Hibbler is no longer on NC State’s roster, as reported by Inside Pack Sports earlier today. If Hibbler is looking to preserve his final year of eligibility by redshirting, he must refrain from playing in any more games this season, which could explain his absence.

Hibbler participated in the first four games as a reserve, accumulating a total of 78 snaps before the Clemson game. Although I don’t have the participation stats from this past weekend, he did not register any tackles against the Tigers. For the season, he has six tackles—none for a loss—and one quarterback hurry, following a standout performance last fall where he led the team with 6.5 sacks.

While it’s disappointing to see him leave, if he’s unhappy with his current role, it’s unlikely that things would have changed significantly in the short term. Losing a rotation player at this stage is tough, especially given the defensive struggles the team has faced.
