NC State student charged in multi-day string of shootings around I-40, southwest Raleigh

The 23-year-old man arrested in connection with a series of shootings in southwest Raleigh is a student at North Carolina State University. Andrew Thomas Graney is facing multiple felony charges, including one count of assault with a deadly weapon and 11 counts of discharging a weapon into occupied dwellings or vehicles, related to the shootings that occurred from Monday to Thursday.

On Friday, a spokesperson for NC State confirmed that Graney is a senior majoring in anthropology and has been a student there since 2019.

On Thursday afternoon, over two dozen police officers descended on Kentford Court in southwest Raleigh, where they apprehended Graney. Another man was also taken into custody but was later released without charges.
