New York Yankees Superstar Gets Brutally Honest And Makes Bold Statement About Detroit Tigers Ace

It seems like the Detroit Tigers ace has impressed one of the best players in the game following some glowing praise that was sent his way by the New York Yankees star.

On Sunday, the Detroit Tigers had an exciting chance to participate in the Little League Classic against the New York Yankees, spending time with Little Leaguers before their own game in Williamsport, PA.

This was the eighth iteration of this event, which allows two teams to attend Little League World Series games, promoting the sport at the youth level. Players and their families were also able to enjoy the Major League game later that evening.

For the Tigers, the outcome was thrilling. Trailing 1-0 going into the bottom of the ninth, their latest call-up, Jace Jung, made an impact by hitting a single that tied the game. After Zach McKinstry leveled the score again in the 10th, Parker Meadows delivered a walk-off single, clinching a 3-2 victory for Detroit.

While this win may not hold immediate significance for the team, it showcased young players who could become future stars.

Pitcher Tarik Skubal was also impressive on the mound, allowing just one run on three hits with five strikeouts over six innings, effectively stifling the Yankees.

The combination of a comeback win for the young hitters and Skubal’s dominance must have lifted Tigers fans’ spirits.

Post-game, Yankees star Aaron Judge praised Skubal, stating, “He’s the best pitcher in the game right now… It’s not fun facing a guy like that, but it’s fun competing against the best,” as reported by MLB insider Jon Morosi.

This is significant praise, especially considering Judge’s teammate is reigning AL Cy Young winner Gerrit Cole. In the midst of stiff competition, Skubal’s prowess stands out.

Leading MLB starting pitchers with a 2.49 ERA and 14 wins, he sits second in WHIP (0.93) and fWAR (4.5), and third in strikeouts (185) as of Monday.

With Skubal anchoring the rotation, the Tigers have a bright future ahead—especially if their promising prospects continue to progress and the front office adds necessary pieces around their ace.
