News | Top Performing Sensation Named MVC Freshman Of The Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Eva Krakowski from Southern Illinois Women’s Volleyball has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday.

Hailing from Roselle, Illinois, Krakowski had an outstanding week, recording 17 kills and eight blocks in a victory over UT Martin on Tuesday. She continued her strong performance with another 10 kills at Lindenwood on Saturday, marking the first time she achieved double-digit kills in consecutive games.

During the past week, Krakowski and the Salukis finished with a 2-1 record, featuring an exciting comeback win against UT Martin and a 1-1 result at the Lindenwood Invitational, where they lost a five-set match to Lindenwood but swept Austin Peay.

Krakowski joins teammates Cecilia Bulmahn (twice in 2022) and Ema Stermenska (2023) as the active Salukis who have received this honor.

Southern Illinois will be hosting the Saluki Invitational starting Thursday, with three matches set for the weekend.
