Philadelphia Eagles HC Nick Sirianni Addresses A.J. Brown Trade Buzz
The Eagles find themselves in an unexpected offseason dilemma involving star wide receiver A.J. Brown, whose frustration with his role has fueled speculation that he could be on the trade block after four seasons in Philadelphia.
It’s a surprising development considering Brown’s résumé with the franchise. During his tenure, the Eagles have appeared in two Super Bowls and captured one championship. Individually, Brown has recorded four straight 1,000-yard campaigns and earned three All-Pro selections, cementing himself as one of the league’s premier receivers.
Instead of focusing solely on roster upgrades, Philadelphia is now devoting significant attention to Brown’s future. Sirianni confronted the topic this week ahead of the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, where Brown’s situation is expected to draw considerable interest.
Sirianni acknowledged that nothing in the NFL is guaranteed but emphasized that Brown remains a valued player and teammate. He stated that both he and Brown want the receiver to remain in Philadelphia, expressing hope that things will ultimately work out.
Mixed Signals
Despite Sirianni’s public support, skepticism lingers. Team executives, including general manager Howie Roseman and owner Jeffrey Lurie, have reason to present a united front if the organization is weighing its options. Maintaining Brown’s perceived value would be critical in any potential trade discussions.
Tension between Sirianni and Brown has surfaced before. During a 23–10 home playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Wild Card Round, cameras caught Sirianni sprinting down the sideline and yelling at Brown before security chief Dom “Big Dom” DiSandro and others stepped in to separate them.
That game capped a turbulent season that included other controversies, such as defensive tackle Jalen Carter being ejected after an incident involving Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys.
Ongoing Frustration
Reports suggest Brown has voiced dissatisfaction with the offense and his involvement over the past two seasons, regardless of wins or losses. His frustrations — paired with visible sideline moments — have only intensified trade rumors.
The speculation has grown so strong that Philadelphia may even consider absorbing significant dead cap money, reportedly north of $70 million, if it ultimately decides to move on.
For now, Sirianni’s message is clear publicly: he wants Brown back. Whether that stance holds through the offseason remains one of the Eagles’ biggest storylines.
