OFFICIAL: Washington Capitals Name New General Manager
The Washington Capitals have stated that Chris Patrick has been elevated to the position of General Manager and Senior Vice President. Patrick will take on the role as the seventh GM in Capitals history. Meanwhile, the former GM, Brian MacLellan, will remain in his position as the team’s President of Hockey Operations.

Chris Patrick Promoted to Washington Capitals General Manager
Patrick’s tenure with the Capitals includes diverse roles such as player development, scouting, pro scouting, director of player personnel, and assistant general manager. While this marks his first stint as a GM, Patrick brings substantial experience, having managed various team aspects during his time as associate GM, including contract negotiations, analytics oversight, and working closely with the AHL’s Hershey Bears and the pro scouting department. Before his front-office career, Patrick played four years of NCAA hockey at Princeton and was drafted by the Capitals in the eighth round of the 1994 NHL Draft.

Amidst numerous GM changes across the league this offseason, the Capitals have joined the trend with Patrick’s promotion.
