Oregon Ducks football Line Up Official Visit With Elite DL Marcus Fakatou
After placing Oregon in his top 10, four-star defensive lineman Marcus Fakatou has scheduled an official visit to Eugene, further signaling mutual interest between the two sides.
According to Rivals, Fakatou will take his official visit to Oregon on June 12. It’s one of four visits currently locked in, alongside trips to Ohio State Buckeyes football, Texas Longhorns football, and Michigan Wolverines football. He also intends to schedule officials with Notre Dame Fighting Irish football, Georgia Bulldogs football, and Penn State Nittany Lions football.
Fakatou is viewed as one of the premier prospects in the country. Per the Rivals Industry Ranking, he checks in as the No. 28 overall recruit nationally, the No. 2 defensive lineman, and the No. 2 player in California.
Oregon Building Momentum on the Trail
The Ducks are off to a strong start in their 2027 recruiting cycle, momentum that could help in their pursuit of Fakatou. Oregon’s staff has made it clear he’s a priority target.
“The coaches came to see me twice during the contact period and I really like them,” Fakatou told Rivals. “I’ve visited a few times, and I love the energy and atmosphere. I feel like I fit in there.”
Under head coach Dan Lanning, Oregon has developed a reputation as one of the nation’s top recruiting programs. The Ducks currently hold five commitments in the 2027 class, which ranks No. 13 nationally and No. 4 in the Big Ten, according to Rivals.
How Fakatou Fits in Eugene
Landing a prospect of Fakatou’s caliber would bolster Oregon’s defensive front for years to come. The Ducks have consistently developed talent along the defensive line and head into the 2026 season with high expectations.
Oregon is set to return all of its defensive line starters in 2026, giving those veterans a chance to improve their NFL Draft stock ahead of 2027. That could open the door for new contributors shortly thereafter.
The Ducks already secured four-star defensive linemen Anthony Jones and Tony Cumberland in the 2026 class, both of whom could push for playing time early. Should Fakatou join the fold, he would enter a competitive but opportunity-rich situation.
Lanning has shown a willingness to play freshmen who prove ready, and with potential roster turnover looming in 2027, Oregon could offer Fakatou a pathway to early snaps.
Oregon’s defense finished the 2025 season ranked No. 7 nationally in total defense, surrendering just 273.7 yards per game. Adding a player with Fakatou’s upside could help ensure the Ducks remain dominant in the trenches for seasons to come.
