Oregon Ducks Player Delivers Emotional Message Following Severe Injury.

The Oregon Ducks visited Ann Arbor on Saturday afternoon and handled their business in The Big House, defeating the Michigan Wolverines 38-17 in a game that was never really in question.

Dan Lanning and his team have now reached a 9-0 record for the season and will maintain their top ranking for at least one more week. Nevertheless, the team potentially lost one of their key players – wide receiver Tez Johnson.

During the first drive, Johnson caught a pass on the right side for 11 yards, but fell awkwardly on his shoulder while going out of bounds. He quickly entered the medical tent, then went to the locker room, and reappeared fifteen minutes later in regular clothes with his right arm in a sling.

Lanning did not provide a specific diagnosis post-game, but there are suspicions that Johnson may have a broken collarbone or a separated shoulder, with the latter being more favorable for a quicker recovery.

If Johnson’s social media post on Sunday morning is anything to go by, the former option may actually be more correct.

Although Johnson’s “heartbreaking” post does not explicitly state a diagnosis, it is probably not a positive sign for his recovery if he is sharing a sorrowful message on social media aiming for a quick recuperation.

This year, Johnson has clearly been the top choice for the Ducks in the passing game. After playing nine games, he has caught the ball 64 times for a total of 649 yards and scored eight touchdowns. Oregon possesses the necessary elements to compensate for his lack of presence, as players such as Evan Stewart, Traeshon Holden, and Terrance Ferguson all contribute significantly in the receiving aspect of the game. Nevertheless, the Ducks’ chances of winning the championship could suffer if the top receiver on the team is sidelined, no matter the duration.

It’s a good thing for Oregon that the rest of the regular season schedule is not very challenging for the team. They will play at home against the Maryland Terrapins and Washington Huskies in the coming month, with a road game against the Wisconsin Badgers in between.

Following that, a probable Big Ten Conference Championship game and the chance for a College Football Playoff run may be on the horizon. We will find out if Tez Johnson can come back by then.
