Panther Profile: CB High-Star Stats, Info & 2024 Outlook

Previewing Carolina Panthers cornerback Troy Hill.

Last season, the Carolina Panthers bolstered their secondary by acquiring veteran Troy Hill, reuniting him with defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, with whom he had previously worked during their time together in Los Angeles.

Height: 5’11” Weight: 180 lbs

Age: 32

College: Oregon

2023 in Review:

Hill made significant contributions for the Panthers, establishing himself as the team’s primary nickel back within Evero’s defensive system. With no other effective slot cover options on the roster, Hill’s performance led to reduced playing time for Jeremy Chinn. By the end of the season, Hill had amassed 48 tackles, six passes defended, three tackles for loss, and one interception.

Looking ahead to 2024:

Hill is set to reprise his role as the Panthers’ primary nickel option and will also contribute to the development of rookie Chau Smith-Wade. Due to a lack of depth on the outside, Hill may see increased playing time in that area, despite his better fit as an inside player. Despite entering his 33rd season, Hill remains a valuable asset for the Panthers’ defensive plans. His extensive familiarity with Evero’s defensive strategy positions him to be one of Carolina’s most reliable players in the secondary.
