One of the leading prospects in the high school basketball class of 2025 has officially arranged a visit to the Virginia men’s basketball program. Nate Ament, a consensus five-star forward and a top 10 overall recruit who is the highest-ranked player in Virginia, is set to visit UVA on September 14th, according to a report from HS Top Recruits.

Standing at 6’9″ and hailing from Manassas, Virginia, Ament is recognized as a five-star prospect by all major recruiting services. He is ranked No. 3 overall by On3, No. 7 by 247Sports, No. 8 by ESPN, and No. 10 by Rivals. Ament, who competes at Highland High School in Monterey, is among the top four players in his position and holds the title of the best player in Virginia.

As a result, Ament has received an impressive array of offers from major conferences, including Virginia, Kentucky, Duke, UConn, Kansas, North Carolina, Tennessee, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Creighton, Illinois, Louisville, Florida State, Michigan, NC State, Texas, Wake Forest, Oregon, Virginia Tech, and more.

In September 2023, Tony Bennett and the Cavaliers hosted Ament for an unofficial visit, and he has also made similar trips to Duke and Virginia Tech. Reports indicate that Ament intends to take official visits to UConn, Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, and Virginia, with Kentucky and UVA being the only ones formally scheduled so far.

Virginia has not yet received a verbal commitment from the 2025 recruiting class but remains in contention for five four-star recruits:

  • SF Cam Ward (Washington, D.C.)
  • PF London Jemison (West Hartford, CT)
  • CG Derek Dixon (Washington, D.C.)
