On Friday night, Arizona State faced off against Utah in a significant matchup to kick off Week 7 of the 2024 college football season, resulting in a surprising 27-19 upset victory for the Sun Devils over the 16th-ranked Utes. With a standout performance from running back Cam Skattebo, who accumulated 158 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries, plus four receptions for 41 yards, Arizona State managed to fend off Utah, despite the Utes having Cam Rising at quarterback, who was dealing with a leg injury. While the win thrilled the Sun Devils and their supporters, many noticed that Mountain America Stadium had numerous empty seats, highlighting a lack of attendance despite Arizona State’s strong start and the presence of a ranked opponent.

The reported attendance for the game was 45,310, which is decent given the stadium’s capacity of 53,599. However, the actual number of fans in attendance didn’t seem to match that figure, as shown in the accompanying image. It’s unfortunate that Arizona State’s impressive 5-1 start to the 2024 season seems to be overlooked by many in their fanbase. Nonetheless, as long as they continue winning, they probably won’t be too concerned. Following their significant victory over Utah, the Sun Devils will now set their sights on Week 8, where they are scheduled to play Cincinnati in an early game on Saturday, October 19th, at 12 PM EST.
