Baltimore Ravens Facing Challenging Negotiations With Tyler Linderbaum
The Ravens enter a pivotal offseason needing positive momentum after a disappointing year that ended without a playoff appearance and cost head coach John Harbaugh his job.
One of Baltimore’s top priorities is retaining three-time Pro Bowl center Tyler Linderbaum, but recent reports suggest contract talks have not progressed smoothly. According to Ian Rapoport, negotiations have been complicated, with Linderbaum’s agent, Neil Cornrich, reportedly slow to engage in discussions.
That’s concerning for a Ravens team already seeing speculation link Linderbaum to Harbaugh’s new squad, the New York Giants.
Market projections from Spotrac estimate Linderbaum’s value at roughly four years and $70.8 million — about $17.7 million annually. He just completed his rookie deal, a four-year contract worth $13.23 million.
A Record-Setting Deal Could Be the Answer
If Baltimore wants to eliminate doubt, it could raise the stakes with a historic offer — for example, a four-year, $73 million contract that would make Linderbaum the highest-paid center in league history. That figure would surpass the four-year, $72 million extension signed by Creed Humphrey of the Kansas City Chiefs before the 2024 campaign.
Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta recently stated the team has already presented what he described as a “market-setting” proposal. However, he also indicated the organization does not plan to use the franchise or transition tag to keep Linderbaum.
Rare First-Round Talent at Center
True first-round centers are uncommon, and Linderbaum fits that exclusive category. Selected No. 25 overall in 2022, the Iowa product built an elite résumé at University of Iowa. He was a two-time All-Big Ten selection and capped his collegiate career by winning the Rimington Trophy while earning All-American honors and Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year recognition.
Ahead of the draft, analyst Lance Zierlein compared Linderbaum to future Hall of Famer Jason Kelce, praising his tenacity and scheme fit despite questions about prototypical size.
Giants Loom as Potential Destination
The Giants present an intriguing possibility if negotiations with Baltimore falter. With a young roster and rising expectations, Linderbaum could anchor the offensive line and provide stability for second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart. Though New York’s cap situation may complicate matters, the fit has been widely discussed.
For Baltimore, the situation is clear: securing Linderbaum would represent a major offseason victory. Failing to do so could mean watching one of the league’s premier young centers land elsewhere.
