Recruiting Roundup: Former Notre Dame WR commit locks in official visit to Michigan

We are currently in the midst of the official visit season, and over the weekend, several prospective students from the 2025 class visited Ann Arbor. In this edition of the Recruiting Roundup, we will share some feedback from the recruits who visited Michigan last weekend before diving into other updates.

Former ND commit announces official visit date to U-M

Shaun Terry, a three-star wide receiver in the 2025 class who had previously made a commitment to Notre Dame, has scheduled an official visit to Michigan for the upcoming weekend.

The 5-foot-10, 170-pound player from Ironton, Ohio initially pledged to Notre Dame in February, but withdrew that commitment on June 1. Notre Dame has a policy that prohibits committed recruits from taking visits, and Terry wanted to explore other options.

Terry recently visited Missouri officially, making the Tigers a prominent contender alongside Michigan. Although he hasn’t confirmed any additional visits yet, he holds offers from USC, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Auburn, Oregon, Penn State, Oklahoma, Michigan State, and others, bolstering his status as the 652nd prospect in his class.

Michigan aims to bring in several wide receivers in this recruiting cycle, particularly those with larger physical profiles than current players. While Terry doesn’t necessarily fit that criteria, the recruitment staff led by Ron Bellamy is evidently interested in him, arranging a swift official visit. The outcome of this visit will determine the next steps in his recruitment process.

Top-100 OL discusses official visit to U-M

SJ Alofaituli, a highly rated four-star offensive lineman from the 2025 class, was among the official visitors in Ann Arbor over the past weekend. During an interview with On3’s Zach Libby ($), Alofaituli shared his experience from the visit, highlighting his interactions with offensive line coach Grant Newsome.

Alofaituli praised Coach Newsome’s coaching abilities, expressing appreciation for the discussions they had during the visit. He mentioned how Newsome illustrated his potential role at Michigan and how he could contribute to the team’s success. The prospect spoke highly of the overall visit experience, emphasizing the positive and engaging conversations they had throughout.

Michigan offers a comprehensive package for a player like Alofaituli, who is ranked 77th overall in his class. The prospect emphasized that Michigan provides an array of resources and opportunities for all prospects, including aspects like the gym facilities, nutritional support, academics, NIL opportunities, and more. However, he particularly highlighted the campus environment as a standout feature, likening it to a grand and enchanting setting reminiscent of Hogwarts from Harry Potter. He expressed eagerness about the educational facilities and the learning environment at Michigan.

Next on Alofaituli’s agenda are official visits to Nebraska and Miami, having previously visited Texas A&M before his trip to Michigan. The time spent in Ann Arbor is likely to weigh heavily in his decision-making process.

Reflecting on his impressions, Alofaituli acknowledged Michigan’s strong positioning in his considerations, citing the program as a standard-bearer with a winning tradition both on and off the field. He noted Michigan’s status as a top contender in his recruitment process.

Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 290 pounds, Alofaituli is expected to transition to the inside of the offensive line, specifically at the center position, at the collegiate level.

Four-star edge recaps official visit last weekend

Julius Holly, a four-star edge player from Georgia in the 2025 class, recently received an offer from the Michigan Wolverines on May 20 and promptly scheduled an official visit to Ann Arbor, which he completed last weekend.

In a recap of his official visit with The Michigan Insider’s Brice Marich ($), Holly highlighted the valuable time he spent with the coaches and players, gaining insights into the Michigan program’s operations. He mentioned enjoying activities like bowling on the first night of his visit, relishing the opportunity to interact with the coaching staff and players, and immersing himself in the Michigan atmosphere.

The new defensive line coach, Lou Esposito, has quickly made an impact on the recruiting front since joining the Wolverines. Holly spoke highly of Coach Lou, describing him as personable and noting the staff’s focus on personal development, which resonated with him during his visit.

Holly’s visit to Michigan marked his initial official visit of the summer. He has upcoming official visits planned to Georgia, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M, with a desire to also visit Alabama following a recent offer. Considering these upcoming visits, Holly acknowledged the challenge of determining where Michigan stands among his top choices, although he still views them as a prominent contender.

Ranked as the 22nd edge player, 38th in Georgia, and 300th overall in his class on 247Sports’ composite rankings, Holly’s recruitment journey continues as he explores his options and evaluates potential collegiate destinations.
