Red Hot: Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program has reached out to Georgia Tech highly Rated Elite
Even though the 2024-2025 school year in Chapel Hill is starting in just over a week, Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program may still make additional additions to this year’s roster.
UNC has reached out to Georgia Tech transfer Tyzhaun Claude, per Trilly Donovan.
Averaged 4.8 PPG & 5.2 RPG with the Yellow Jackets last season and averaged 15.4 PPG & 8.6 the season before with Western Carolina.

Trilly Donovan reported that the UNC basketball program has been in touch with Georgia Tech transfer Tyzhaun Claude. After entering the transfer portal on April 1, the Goldsboro, North Carolina native received a waiver from the NCAA and is now eligible to play in the 2024-25 season.
Claude’s college journey has been eventful, having attended three different schools. He began at Moorehouse State but struggled with injuries during his three years there. He then transferred to Western Carolina, where he had a standout season, averaging 15.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. After just one year at Western Carolina, he moved to Georgia Tech, where he averaged 4.8 points and 5.4 rebounds while coming off the bench.
This situation might suggest that Hubert Davis and his staff are uncertain about their current frontcourt depth. While Claude would be considered a “smaller big” at 6-foot-7, his skill set could provide valuable depth for the UNC basketball program.
In my opinion, if there are scholarships available, it makes sense to utilize them. Bringing in a veteran big man with ACC experience could be advantageous. With school starting soon, expect the recruitment process to accelerate, as a decision is likely to be made quickly so that his next team can integrate him into their system.
