Red Hot June: Highlight On East Carolina Reaching 20 Commitment Mark Already For The 2025 Cycle

What are the remaining needs for ECU’s 2025 class after a red hot June?

East Carolina’s recruiting class has been incredibly successful in June, with 18 commitments since the start of the month. Official visits and recruiting efforts have been ongoing since the second weekend of June, leading to a significant number of commitments.

As the dead period begins this week, head coach Mike Houston and his team have effectively addressed many of their needs, acquiring a total of 20 verbal commitments. This includes players in various positions such as quarterback, running back, wide receivers, tight ends, offensive lineman, defensive linemen, EDGE players, linebackers, cornerbacks, and safeties.

ECU Football Recruiting Update: Remaining Needs for the 2025 Class

After a red-hot June on the recruiting trail, East Carolina University (ECU) is still expecting one more silent commitment to announce in the coming days, which would bring their 2025 class total to 21. Additionally, the class of 2024 signees quarterback Cole Hodge and offensive lineman Peyton Reeder are gray shirting until January due to offseason surgery, effectively adding two more players to the 2025 class.

With the class nearly full, ECU doesn’t have a lot of remaining room to add more recruits. However, the coaching staff is still targeting a few key positions to round out the 2025 roster.

Here’s a look at some of the remaining needs

Tight End
ECU has offered several tight end prospects for the 2025 class and is closely monitoring their recruitment. This position remains a priority as the Pirates look to add more depth and talent at the position.

Offensive Line
While ECU has already secured several offensive line commits, the coaching staff may look to add one or two more players to this unit. Offensive line is always a position of emphasis, and the Pirates want to continue building depth and competition up front.

Defensive Back
The secondary is another area where ECU could look to add more talent. The coaching staff may target a few more defensive back prospects to complement the existing commitments in the 2025 class.

Wide Receiver
Despite already having several wide receiver commits, the Pirates may look to add one or two more pass-catchers to the class. Receiver is a premium position, and ECU wants to ensure they have enough playmakers on the outside.

Overall, ECU is in a strong position with their 2025 recruiting class, but the coaching staff is still working to put the finishing touches on this group by addressing the remaining needs at tight end, offensive line, defensive back, and wide receiver. With one more silent commit on the way and the addition of the grayshirting 2024 signees, the Pirates are poised to have another impressive recruiting haul.
