Reports: 2025 Notre Dame OL Commit Sensation Optimistic For Senior Season

Matty Augustine is looking forward to his senior year at Brunswick School in Connecticut.

“It’s going to be an amazing season,” says the Notre Dame offensive line commit for 2025. “We’ve got a new quarterback, Blake, and we’re really excited about his arrival.”

He’s talking about Blake Hebert, a 2025 Clemson quarterback commit who transferred to Brunswick this offseason from Central Catholic High School in Massachusetts.

“Our offense is looking strong,” Augustine adds. “We have a solid o-line, great receivers, and Blake leading us.”

“He joined us in January, and we hit it off right away. He’s a natural leader, dedicated to improving everyone around him. Just having him on the team has made a big difference. We’ve had morning workouts all summer, and he’s living with a local family. For someone who just got here a few months ago, it’s inspiring to see him lead. He’s gained everyone’s trust, including mine, and I’m excited to block for him.”

Brunswick’s defense features Augustine’s friend and fellow 2025 commit, safety Ethan Long.

“Having Ethan on our defense is a plus. We’ve got a great linebacker and an all-around strong team. The chemistry is fantastic, and I can’t wait to kick off the season in a couple of weeks!”

At 6-foot-7 and 290 pounds, Augustine is ready for his best season yet.

“My strength has really improved,” he shares. “I’ve been lifting heavy since the basketball season ended, almost doubling my lifts since last football season. I can’t wait to put that strength to use on the field.”

Augustine is prepared to face opponents eager to compete against a future Notre Dame player.

“I thrive on that,” he says. “Knowing opponents will bring their best pushes me to elevate my game. It makes me want to play even harder.”

His last visit to South Bend was in June, and he enjoyed the experience.

“It was a blast! Spending time with the o-line was a highlight, something unique for a visit. Seeing their chemistry was really enjoyable.”

With most games scheduled for Saturday afternoons, Augustine plans to catch at least two Irish games this fall.

“I have a Friday night game in September, so I should make it to the Miami-Ohio game, and I’ll definitely be at the game at Yankee Stadium.”
