In the realm of sports, it’s a well-established belief that a game remains unpredictable until the very end, and this notion was exemplified in the recent match between the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Calgary Stampeders.
Zach Collaros finally achieved his first passing touchdown of the season, alleviating a significant burden, while rookie Ontaria Wilson delivered an outstanding performance, and Brady Oliveira surpassed the 100-yard rushing mark for the second consecutive game to secure the victory against the Stampeders.
Despite the outcome, Jake Maier still managed to throw for over 300 yards, and Dedrick Mills showcased significant prowess on the ground for Calgary.

660 – COMBINED QUARTERBACK PASSING YARDS
On Friday night, both quarterbacks were instrumental in making significant aerial plays, with both Collaros and Maier exceeding 300 passing yards each, while also recording two touchdowns and two interceptions each in the process.
Maier achieved an average of 10.2 yards per pass by completing 20 of 31 attempts, whereas Collaros closely trailed with an average of 9.6 yards per pass, completing 27 of 36 attempts.
In the game, each quarterback had three receivers gaining over 60 yards through the air. For Calgary, Clark Barnes, Jalen Philpot, and Reggie Begelton all amassed at least 62 yards, while Collaros connected with Wilson, Drew Wolitarsky, and Nic Demski for 60 or more yards in the victorious effort.
3 – SECOND QUARTER TOUCHDOWNS
In the second quarter, the standout performers were the kickers from each team, both of whom had impressive performances going 6-for-6 in the first half, largely dominating the scoring until just three minutes remained before halftime.
Winnipeg achieved their first touchdown of the evening with a 30-yard pass from Collaros to Wilson, marking Wilson’s inaugural CFL touchdown. Shortly after, Deatrick Nichols intercepted a pass from Maier and returned it for a touchdown, swiftly adding 14 points for the Bombers in less than 30 seconds.
Despite relinquishing their lead and falling behind by double digits, the Stamps seized the opportunity to score on the subsequent drive, with Mills rushing for 53 yards before Erik Brooks caught a 32-yard pass for a touchdown. This sequence set the tone for the intense back-and-forth exchange that continued throughout the rest of the game.
201 – ONTARIA WILSON RECEIVING YARDS
Numerous players delivered remarkable performances in the matchup between the Stamps and the Bombers, with Wilson showcasing exceptional prowess, particularly evident as he secured his first CFL career touchdown in the victory.
Wilson made several pivotal receptions, amassing over 200 receiving yards. Among these, his 42-yard catch propelled the Bombers to advance to Calgary’s 23-yard line. Subsequently, Collaros connected with Nic Demski for a 10-yard touchdown two plays later, granting them the lead.
Filling in for the injured Kenny Lawler, the rookie receiver not only assisted Collaros in securing his first passing touchdown of the season but also demonstrated his skills in the league. It is anticipated that he will further develop and contribute to the Bombers as the season progresses.
