Reports: Anna Miller and Phoebe Warner Gives Their Honest Admission on Halifax win

Baggies duo Anna Miller and Phoebe Warner said they were delighted to be part of Albion Women’s first, hard-earned 2024/25 league victory on Sunday.

Both players played key roles in the 4-0 victory at Valley Stadium, where Siobhan Hodgetts-Still’s team dominated the match.

Warner delivered an impressive hat-trick of assists, while Miller made a vital penalty save during the goalless first half of their FA WNL Northern Premier Division clash.

“I had a bit of a challenging week in training,” goalkeeper Anna reflected. “I entered this game with a chip on my shoulder, so saving the penalty felt like a significant moment that could change the course of the match.

“We struggled a bit in the first half to maintain possession and keep the ball down. But after making some adjustments in the second half, we calmed down and were able to connect better, resulting in four goals.”

Phoebe echoed this sentiment, saying, “In the first half, we found it tough, and the game was quite transitional. However, in the second half, we hit our stride and created chances, and that showed in the scoreline.

“I was really disappointed not to start last week, which motivated me to step up in this game.

“It’s great having competition within the squad; it pushes us to work harder both in training and during matches, which is overall beneficial for our performance.

“I just came in wanting to express myself and play freely, and I believe I achieved that.”

The Baggies received a warm welcome from many supporters during their home opener at Valley Stadium, and Miller is eager to see that same support this Wednesday night for their FA WNL Cup match against Solihull Moors.

“Shout out to Proud Baggies,” said Anna. “They’re fantastic. They always come out in large numbers, and it was great to hear them at our first home game.

“We really look forward to cup matches; they always bring new challenges, and we need to be prepared.

“It’s also a chance to face different teams, which makes it exciting. We hope to see as many fans as possible there.”

Phoebe is optimistic that they can build on their strong start in the league for a midweek cup victory as well.

“Getting a draw and a win in our opening games is a solid start, especially against two strong teams, which puts us in a good position in the table moving forward.

“I’m really looking forward to Wednesday’s match. The cup offers a different kind of experience, and I think we’re all eager for the challenge.”
