REPORTS: Arizona’s top-ranked 2026 OL impressed with Sun Devils
Jalayne Miller’s physical growth has been a personal journey of achievement. The local 2026 offensive lineman began his high school career at Desert Edge High School in Goodyear at 6-foot-4, 305 pounds. However, he was determined to enhance his body’s makeup.
“Since my freshman year, my aim has been to become bigger, faster, and stronger,” Miller explained. “I’ve noticed, as have the coaches, the changes in my body as I shed the baby fat, gained significant muscle mass, and improved my speed, especially through track.”
During his sophomore year, Miller played every game at left tackle, contributing to the team’s advancement to the 5A state championship game held at Mountain America Stadium, which further raised his prospects in the recruitment process.
Following substantial effort over the past two offseasons, Miller is gearing up for his junior season, now standing at 6-foot-5, 320 pounds.
Recognizing his potential early on, Arizona State’s coaches extended a scholarship offer to the emerging junior in the spring before his sophomore year—prior to his emergence as the No. 436 overall prospect, the No. 37 interior offensive lineman in his class, and the No. 2 recruit in Arizona on the 247Sports Composite.
“Miller expressed gratitude for the college that took a risk on him, emphasizing that as he enters his third year, he appreciates the increased opportunity for personal interactions. While receiving interest from other major schools, such as Kansas, Tennessee, and Wisconsin, Miller values the personalized approach of the staff at ASU.”
“Miller emphasized that while football remains his top priority, ASU’s focus on him beyond his athletic abilities has been a significant aspect of their recruitment. He noted that as he continues to visit the campus, the depth of their conversations has grown. Upon returning from a trip to Disneyland, Miller appreciated that the ASU coaching staff took the time to inquire about his vacation and family before discussing football.
During his initial visit to ASU, which coincided with the Sun Devils’ victory over Washington State last season, everything felt new to Miller. He described being open to absorbing the atmosphere, including the crowd and the players, as it revealed his potential future.
Participating in ASU’s “Elite Day” in February, Miller had the opportunity to don a Sun Devil uniform for the first time. He viewed it as a glimpse into what his future could hold and savored the novelty of wearing college gear for the first time. Reflecting on the experience, he expressed his enjoyment and the prospect of potentially joining the team.”
As he embarks on his junior year, Miller remains open to considering various opportunities and anticipates receiving interest from additional schools. However, he emphasized that the Sun Devils have left a strong and enduring impact.
Describing the hospitality he experienced during visits, Miller conveyed his belief that ASU is genuinely interested in recruiting him for who he is.
