Reports: “Falter’s No-Hitter: Pirates’ Ace Stuns Marlins Through Six Innings!

PITTSBURGH (AP) — On Wednesday, Pittsburgh Pirates’ left-hander Bailey Falter delivered an impressive performance, throwing six no-hit innings against the Miami Marlins.

The 27-year-old allowed two walks; Kyle Stowers reached base to start the third inning but was quickly erased on a double play hit by Javier Sanoja. Jonah Bride walked to open the fifth inning.

Falter (7-7, 4.45 ERA) showcased his striking ability by striking out the side on just 10 pitches in the first inning. Overall, he recorded five strikeouts with 76 pitches thrown, 48 of which were strikes, four of those coming from his first five batters faced.

In his four seasons in the major leagues since making his debut in 2021, Falter has a record of 17-21 with a 4.65 ERA over 84 games, including 55 starts for both the Pirates and the Philadelphia Phillies.

Notably, just days earlier, the Pirates suffered a no-hitter against the Cubs in a 12-0 defeat on September 4, managing only three walks against Shota Imanaga, Nate Pearson, and Porter Hodge, while Chicago made three errors.

This marks the most recent no-hitter in the history of Major League Baseball, with a total of 326 in the books and four occurring this season.
