Reports: Kenny Dillingham Gets Brutally Honest About ASU Football Getting Votes In The AP Poll
TEMPE — Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham made it clear on Monday that he’s not at all concerned about the Sun Devils’ position in The Associated Press’ Top 25 poll.
In the latest update on Sunday, ASU garnered the third-most points among teams receiving votes, effectively placing them at No. 28.
“I genuinely don’t care. The only reason I might pay attention is that recruits may be interested,” Dillingham explained. “I never discuss records. I never have and I never will.”

Dillingham emphasized that his focus is on the process required to win, a sentiment echoed by Phoenix Suns legend Steve Nash during a team meeting on Monday.
Although ASU’s victory over then-No. 16 Utah last Friday didn’t propel the Sun Devils into the Top 25 as some expected, the head coach believes it demonstrated that the team is moving in the right direction.
“I certainly think it reflects the direction our team is headed, but we still have a long journey ahead before we can establish ourselves as a strong program. Achieving that kind of stability is still years away,” Dillingham stated.
He downplayed the national recognition from the victory and reflected on the postgame buzz with a familiar adage: it’s easier to fall than to rise.
“Just fumble the ball once, Skat, and see the consequences. If we lose the game, Kenny, see what follows,” he remarked. “That’s just the reality of our situation.”
Dillingham Provides Injury Updates on RB Raleek Brown
Dillingham also announced that running back Raleek Brown, who has the potential to complement Cam Skattebo’s playing style in the backfield, will miss Saturday’s game against Cincinnati.
Brown was sidelined during the victory over Utah after re-aggravating a hamstring injury that’s been an issue for him throughout the season.
Head coach Dillingham indicated that there’s no need to rush Brown back for Saturday’s game against Cincinnati, especially with a bye week approaching, allowing him more time to recover.
Dillingham also hinted that two defenders, linebacker Tate Romney and defensive lineman Justin Wodtly, might have the chance to return this week if they demonstrate readiness.
“Most likely, I’d say they’ll be out. But we haven’t really practiced yet this week, so we haven’t done a thorough assessment,” Dillingham explained. “There’s a possibility we could see Wodtly or Tate back, depending on how they feel.”
Wodtly, who has significantly bolstered the defensive line when in good health, would be going up against the team he played for the past four years in Cincinnati. He was part of the Bearcats team that made the playoffs in 2021.
