Whether in the form of a nifty score or hilarious foul, NC State basketball alum DJ Burns is a thrill-a-minute kind of player.
After sitting out the Cleveland Cavaliers’ last game, NC State basketball alum DJ Burns concluded his overall promising NBA 2K25 Summer League run with a display of his signature scoring prowess and undeniable charisma on the court.
Burns, who joined the Cavaliers for the Summer League on an Exhibit 10 deal after going undrafted in June, tallied eight points, two rebounds, one assist, and one block in his 12 minutes off the bench during Cleveland’s 100-93 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Saturday. The 23-year-old from Rock Hill, S.C., shot 3-for-6 from the field and 2-for-2 from the free-throw line.

It was arguably his best overall performance among the four games he played this week for a Cleveland team that finished with a 2-3 record.
However, he did accumulate four fouls against the Pacers, averaging one every three minutes on the court. This included a humorous moment when he accidentally “took out” former Kentucky star Oscar Tshiebwe while attempting to clear space for a rebound opportunity.

The player who led NC State basketball to the 2024 Final Four will now have to wait and see what opportunities arise as he embarks on his professional career. It’s likely he will begin by drawing significant crowds in the G League next season.
