LeBron James’ Son Bryce James Ranked as Top-100 Recruit
Multiple Duquesne recruiting prospects have recently been featured in the latest On3 Sports Top-150 basketball rankings. Among those listed is Bryce James, the son of NBA superstar LeBron James, who has received an offer from the Dukes.
James has been ranked as the No. 100 player in the 2025 class by a national recruiting website. He is a four-star prospect, standing at 6-foot-4, and has moved up from No. 135 to No. 100 in the recent update. According to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, Ohio State has a 92.6% likelihood of securing James, with Duquesne in second at 7.4%.
On3 also has another Duquesne target, Gevonte Ware, who recently visited the campus from Sunday to Tuesday, ranked as a four-star player at No. 106 in the 2025 class. Ware has included the Dukes in his top four options.
As reported by 247 Sports and On3, James currently has offers from Duquesne and Ohio State. Notably, Duquesne was the first Division I school to extend an offer to James when he was just 15 back in 2022, shortly after Dru Joyce III was promoted to associate head coach. Joyce is now the head coach, succeeding Keith Dambrot after his retirement following Duquesne’s NCAA Tournament appearance.
Joyce, who received consistent support from Dambrot as his successor, played alongside LeBron at Saint Vincent-Saint Mary High School in Akron, Ohio during the 1999-2000 season. Afterward, he continued his playing career at Akron under Dambrot, where he set the school record for all-time assists and later enjoyed a successful stint overseas.
Before joining Duquesne, Joyce spent three seasons as an assistant coach on Dennis Gates’ staff at Cleveland State. He played a key role as associate head coach at Duquesne, helping the team reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1977, where they achieved a notable upset against BYU in the Round of 64. Although the Dukes were eliminated by Illinois, they returned to Pittsburgh as a memorable team with strong momentum for the following year.
