Reports: Sad Piece As ACC Contender’s Top Wide Receiver Suffers Broken Collarbone In Fall Camp

Just weeks ahead of the 2024 college football season, the Louisville Cardinals faced a major setback when their star wide receiver, Caullin Lacy, sustained a broken collarbone. Lacy was injured during the final scrimmage of fall camp and is anticipated to be out for an extended period.

He was a key addition from the offseason transfer portal, having recorded 91 catches for 1,316 yards and seven touchdowns last season with the South Alabama Jaguars.

Lacy was expected to be the primary receiver under head coach Jeff Brohm this fall, particularly due to his impressive 2023 performance, positioning him as a likely replacement for last year’s top receiver, Jamari Thrash, who had 63 receptions for 858 yards and six touchdowns.

With Lacy sidelined, Chris Bell is expected to step up, joined by Alabama transfer Ja’Corey Brooks. Bell, who returns to the team, was the second-leading receiver last season. The Cardinals kick off their 2024 season by hosting the Austin Peay Governors on August 31 at noon (ET) on the ACC Network.
