Reports: Sherrone Moore Gives An Update On Michigan’s QB Sensation

When Michigan opted not to explore the transfer portal for a quarterback and instead decided to rely on their current roster, many expected either Jack Tuttle or Alex Orji to start. However, neither was chosen for different reasons. Sherrone Moore started former walk-on Davis Warren before switching to Orji for the Week 4 matchup against USC. Moore has consistently mentioned that Warren outperformed Orji in the final weeks of fall camp. Meanwhile, Tuttle, who is in his seventh season, has been hindered by a nagging injury that has kept him from playing.

Tuttle has been listed as questionable on Michigan’s availability report for the past two weeks. Although he has dressed for the games, he has spent practice standing at the back of the quarterback line instead of participating in drills. What’s the latest on the former Indiana quarterback?

During the ‘Inside Michigan Football’ radio show with Jon Jansen, Coach Moore provided an update on Tuttle, noting that he’s been experiencing minor setbacks and is following the doctors’ advice regarding his recovery.

“Jack has been throwing in practice but is facing some minor setbacks,” Moore said. “I’m just going with what the doctors say on this one.”

Until Tuttle is fully healthy and able to play, Warren is expected to serve as the backup to Orji. However, Moore indicated that Warren’s status will depend on his performance in upcoming practices. Warren has thrown six interceptions in two and a half games so far, including three in his most recent outing against Arkansas State.

“Yeah, for now,” Moore said regarding Warren being the No. 2 option. “We’ll see how practice goes and how that develops.”
