Multiple reports, including ESPN’s SC Next, announced on July 8 that Texas women’s basketball secured a commitment from five-star guard Aaliyah Crump. This is a significant victory on the recruiting front for head coach Vic Schaefer and the Longhorns in the 2025 class. Schaefer has secured commitments from five-star guard recruits in consecutive cycles, with Crump now committed for 2025. His elite-level recruiting aims to build on the Longhorns’ momentum from their Elite Eight appearance this past postseason.

In the 2024 class, Schaefer and the Longhorns signed ESPN’s No. 9 overall recruit, Saint Mary’s (CA) High School five-star guard Jordan Lee. Texas also secured commitments from other top recruits in the 2024 class, including five-star forward Justice Carlton and four-star guard Bryanna Preston, adding to a talented roster for the 2024-25 season in the SEC.

The Longhorns are not only focused on building around elite talents like Crump but also prioritizing the recruitment of the nation’s No. 1 2025 recruit, Aaliyah Chavez. Signing both Chavez and Crump in the 2025 class could result in the most talented class in the modern history of Longhorns’ women’s basketball.
