Bobby Manning from CLNS Media took the time to analyze why the Celtics opted for Watson, who was chosen 54th overall in the draft held this past Thursday, June 27.

During his tenure at Gonzaga from 2019 to 2024, Watson appeared in 151 games, starting 94 of them. Across these games, he maintained averages of 9.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.4 steals per game, while playing an average of 23.7 minutes. Notably, Watson concluded his college career ranking second in steals in Gonzaga history with 215 steals, trailing only John Stockton, and he also secured the fourth-highest number of steals in a single season at Gonzaga, recording 66 steals during the 2022-23 campaign.
