REPORTS: UConn Women’s Basketball Top Performer Named Top-Earning Female Athlete On NIL Store In 2023-24

HARTFORD, Conn. – In addition to her growing list of on-court achievements, Paige Bueckers, the star of UConn women’s basketball, was announced as the highest-earning female athlete on the NIL Store platform across all sports for the 2023-24 academic year.

All four finalists for the top-earning female athlete were women’s basketball players, with Bueckers surpassing former UConn teammate Nika Muhl, former LSU star Angel Reese, and Iowa guard Gabbie Marshall. The NIL Store collaborates with 68 Division I athletic departments to produce officially licensed athlete merchandise, including six out of 11 Big East programs.

Bueckers made a comeback to the court last season after missing the entire 2022-23 season due to a torn ACL. Despite playing primarily out of position throughout the year, Bueckers was a finalist for the Naismith Player of the Year award and led UConn on an unprecedented Final Four run with only seven active players on the roster. She achieved a career-best average of 21.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.2 steals per game.

The UConn women’s team also received recognition from the NIL Store as a finalist for the Philanthropic Spirit Award. The Huskies collaborated with the store to create a limited-edition pink jersey for their annual Play4Kay game and donated a portion of the sales to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Additionally, Kyle Muncy, UConn’s director of brand partnerships and trademark management, was honored as the NIL Store’s Licensing Director of the Year.
