Reports: UH basketball’s Top talent named Big 12 Conference Male Athlete of the Year

Jamal Shead, the University of Houston men’s basketball player, was named the Big 12 Conference Male Athlete of the Year. Shead was the Big 12 Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, a consensus first-team All-American, and the winner of the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year award as the Cougars won the regular-season Big 12 title in their first season in the conference.

Shead finished his career as the second winningest player in Houston history with a 120-18 record and third on the school’s all-time assists list with 693 assists. He is projected to be selected in the second round of the upcoming NBA draft. Texas volleyball player Madisen Skinner of Katy was named the Big 12 Female Athlete of the Year.
