Significant Interest From The UNC Basketball Program For the 6-foot-8, 190-pound long-limbed forward

It’d be a shock if CJ Rosser doesn’t draw significant interest from the UNC basketball program and fellow Tobacco Road blueblood Duke.

Sophomore standout CJ Rosser from Northern Nash High School (N.C.) is ranked as the top prospect in the 2027 class by Rivals and second by ESPN. Given his impressive 6-foot-8, 190-pound frame, it’s only a matter of time before he attracts significant attention from UNC’s basketball recruiting efforts.

As Rivals national recruiting expert Rob Cassidy recently pointed out, it’s likely that the Tar Heels and their archrivals, the Blue Devils, will compete for Rosser’s impressive skills.

“At this stage, neither UNC nor Duke has extended an offer to the five-star forward, but it makes sense that both will eventually explore the possibility of recruiting the 6-foot-8 player with a dependable jumper. Clearly, both teams will be targeting several players from Rivals’ initial top 60 list, but the race for Rosser could lead to an exciting in-state rivalry.”

Currently, UNC basketball head coach Hubert Davis and his staff have not yet made any offers for the 2027 class.

The Tar Heels only began recruiting for the 2026 class this past May, so it could take another six months or longer before they consider offering Rosser, whose school is about a 70-minute drive from Chapel Hill, or any other standout sophomores in the country.
