Things to watch: Massive Insights as Eastern Washington Eagles looking to end 2024-25 season on high

Eastern is coming off a record-setting performance against Idaho State last week.

CHENEY, Wash. — This Saturday marks the final game of the season for the Eastern Washington Eagles, who are aiming to finish with a three-game winning streak and a .500 record in the Big Sky Conference.

“It’s huge,” said Offensive Lineman Wyatt Hansen. “We’ve been working hard to reset the culture and demonstrate that our offseason training and dedication is paying off. It’s great to see everything we’ve done finally coming together on the field.”

Eastern is coming off a record-setting performance against Idaho State last week and is looking to maintain that momentum against Northern Arizona, hoping to secure their second victory against a ranked opponent this season.

“Anytime you’re on a winning streak, it’s exciting,” stated Head Coach Aaron Best. “We’ve figured out how to win consecutive games, but we haven’t managed three in a row yet. We have that chance against a really strong opponent playing on their home field, and they’re fighting for their playoff lives, so we must be at our best to compete.”

This year’s squad will be losing several seniors, including their entire offensive line, and they reflect fondly on their time at Eastern.

“From a leadership standpoint, those who are leaving have set the tone for the future,” said Defensive End Brock Harrison. “The next group will have to find their own identity and what works for them. We’ve been trying to establish that over the last three years, and while it hasn’t always gone smoothly, we’ve never stopped trying.”

“As we head into the final stretch against three ranked teams, we’ve fought hard both at home and away,” Best added. “I’m really proud of these players. Despite the challenges, they have continued to compete without wavering.”

Eastern will take on Northern Arizona at the Walkup Skydome in Flagstaff this Saturday, with kickoff set for noon.
