The UNC basketball staff is just a few days away from giving crafty guard Derek Dixon an official tour in Chapel Hill.
On Monday, after a recent visit to Vanderbilt, Gonzaga College High School (D.C.) four-star guard and top 2025 UNC basketball recruit Derek Dixon shared with ZAGSBLOG that he plans to make a decision about his recruitment by the end of September. While the 6-foot-3, 190-pound senior hasn’t set a specific date, he has one in mind.
“I’m thinking about September 27,” Dixon mentioned.
So far, besides his recent trip to Vanderbilt, Dixon has made official visits to Pitt and Virginia during his junior year. He is set to visit Chapel Hill for an official meeting with Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels starting this Friday, and he will finish off his visits with a trip to Arizona the following weekend.
Dixon has climbed 18 positions since January and is currently ranked No. 58 overall in the 247Sports 2025 Composite. Since late July, he has narrowed his choices down to six finalists: UNC, Vanderbilt, Arizona, Pitt, Syracuse, and Virginia.
So far, the UNC basketball coaches have yet to secure a commitment for the 2025 class. Derek Dixon could potentially be their first recruit in the coming weeks.
