Top Story: One of the top linebackers in the class of 2025 could be Auburn’s next commitment

Former Miami Hurricanes LB Commitment Trending Towards Auburn Tigers

Even with their season opener against Alabama A&M scheduled for later today at Jordan-Hare Stadium, the Auburn Tigers continue to aggressively pursue recruits.

Auburn’s visitor list for week one features some of the nation’s top prospects, and head coach Hugh Freeze and his staff plan to make the most of it.

Prominent targets include Na’eem Offord, an elite cornerback from Birmingham ranked No. 6 nationally, and Deuce Knight, the No. 5 quarterback in the 2025 class, both of whom will be attending.

Additionally, Auburn is heavily focused on securing 4-star linebacker Elijah Melendez, who decommitted from Miami on Saturday and is visiting the campus this weekend.

Christian Clemente and Tom Loy from 247Sports have both made confident crystal ball predictions for Melendez to commit to Auburn, rating their confidence level at six.

Ranked as the No. 4 linebacker in the country and the No. 92 overall prospect by Rivals, Melendez has offers from several programs beyond just Auburn and Miami, including Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Texas A&M.

Another expert, Steve Wiltfong from On3, has also predicted that Melendez will choose Auburn, and he could announce his decision by the weekend’s end.

Melendez attends Osceola High School in Kissimmee, Florida, which is 3.5 hours north of Miami, where he was previously committed. The drive from Kissimmee to Auburn is nearly seven hours. Notably, Melendez opted to visit Auburn instead of attending the game between the Gators and Hurricanes in Gainesville on Saturday.
