According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Dallas Mavericks and Detroit Pistons have made a trade.

Tim Hardaway Jr. has concluded his sixth season with the Dallas Mavericks, during which he averaged 14.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. He achieved a shooting percentage of 40.2% from the field and 35.3% from three-point range across 79 games. According to a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Friday, the Mavs have traded Hardaway Jr., the former Michigan standout, to the Detroit Pistons.

Dallas has traded Tim Hardaway Jr. and three second-round picks to Detroit for Quentin Grimes, sources tell ESPN.

Regarding Grimes, he just completed a season split between the New York Knicks and the Detroit Pistons. He wrapped up the year with an average of 7.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game, with shooting percentages of 37.2% from the field and 33.8% from three-point range across 51 games.

Hardaway Jr. is under contract for one additional year, set to earn $16.2 million for the 2024-25 season. As a result, the Mavericks were able to offload a significant amount of salary in the trade.

The Mavericks made it to the 2024 NBA Finals, whereas the Pistons failed to qualify for the playoffs for the fifth consecutive season.
