UNC Recruiting: 2025 High-Star Of “WEIGHT 211” Commits To The Tar Heels

The rising high school senior will join a super talented tight end room.

In 2025, Marshall Pritchett, a promising tight end, has confirmed his commitment to the University of North Carolina (UNC). According to 247sports.com, he is ranked as the 36th tight end in the class of 2025. However, ESPN’s recruiting rankings place him 17th nationally in his position.

Apart from UNC, Marshall has visited various universities unofficially, including Alabama, Wisconsin, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Miami, South Carolina, Michigan, Florida State, Tennessee, and Clemson within the past year. He also received offers from other schools, including Duke. Ultimately, he made a well-considered decision.

Despite being labeled as a 3-star recruit and standing at 6’5 and 215 pounds, it’s important to note that tight ends are typically rated differently from other skill positions when it comes to recruiting “stars”. Notably, the last tight end to receive a 5-star rating was LSU’s Arik Gilbert in 2020.

Legendary tight ends such as Travis Kelce, George Kittle, and Rob Gronkowski had varying star ratings during their recruitment, highlighting the evolving significance of the tight end position in today’s game. UNC’s tight ends coach, Freddie Kitchens, recognizes this evolution and is excited about Pritchett joining the impressive tight end squad.

The UNC football team hasn’t had a standout tight end since Eric Ebron, but Bryson Nesbit is emerging as a top talent.
