WATCH: Duquesne’s Top-Stars Jakub Necas and Co Get Brutally Honest On Overseas Experience

Two Duquesne basketball players recently ventured overseas to participate in international competition.

Jakub Necas, representing Czechia, took part in the FIBA U20 EuroBasket championships held in Poland. According to Duquesne, he emerged as the tournament’s leading scorer, averaging 18.6 points per game. Necas played a significant role in helping Czechia secure sixth place, showcasing his talent with a standout performance in the final game that included 27 points, nine rebounds, and five assists.

“It was incredible in every way possible,” Necas told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “This was my final opportunity to represent my country in a national team jersey at the youth level. I got to play alongside my former teammates and childhood friends. It was the last time I could compete with them on the same team, so it was an amazing experience…”

Additionally, Matus Hronsky, representing Slovakia, went abroad to participate in two international friendly matches against Portugal. He scored 18 points in his first game and followed up with 13 in the second.

“… I had a great time; it was fantastic,” Hronsky said. “I got to see some guys I hadn’t seen in a while who are now playing professionally. I made the most of it.”
