WSU welcomes back beloved Coug mural with new design for football season

The new design will feature an image of a cougar with the words, “Cougar Country Loud and Proud.” It is expected to be finished by September 7.

PULLMAN, Wash. — A large mural is being unveiled to welcome Cougs back to Pullman!

The new artwork will showcase a cougar alongside the phrase, “Cougar Country Loud and Proud.” It is set to be completed in time for the second WSU home football game against Texas Tech on September 7.

“We couldn’t let this celebration of Cougar pride disappear, knowing how much it means to so many,” said Gary Swindler, WSECU President and CEO and a WSU graduate.

Earthwork artist Stan Herd has been chosen to create the continuation of the WSU Coug Mural Field, located just minutes before entering the city of Pullman amidst the wheat fields.

“This crop mural has become a beloved symbol of fall in the Palouse,” remarked WSU Pullman Chancellor Dave Cillay.

This crop art celebrating WSU Pullman should be visible for about 8-10 weeks after it’s completed, before seasonal changes affect its visibility.
