Michigan State football has reportedly reached out to Elite South Carolina EDGE transfer
During the bye week, Michigan State’s new football coach, Jonathan Smith, is actively engaging with the transfer portal.
Earlier this week, he contacted Indiana’s top receiver from 2023, who has recently entered the portal. It appears that Smith is maintaining his focus on the portal, as he is reportedly one of five coaches who have reached out to South Carolina EDGE transfer Bangally Kamara.
South Carolina transfer EDGE Bangally Kamara has been in contact with five schools since entering the portal earlier this week: Cal, Michigan State, SMU, Syracuse and Toledo, a source tells @On3sports.

Michigan State, Cal, Syracuse, Toledo, and SMU have reportedly reached out to Bangally Kamara since he entered the transfer portal this fall, following a short stint with South Carolina. Prior to his time there, he spent four years at Pitt.
At Pitt, Kamara recorded 104 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss, three sacks, one interception, and eight pass breakups in the two years before transferring to South Carolina. During his brief four-game period with the Gamecocks, he tallied nine total tackles and one tackle for loss.
Kamara has proven to be an effective linebacker and edge rusher at Pitt, though his playing time diminished somewhat at South Carolina, likely contributing to his decision to transfer.
With Michigan State needing edge rushers, Smith is fully committed to pursuing Kamara. The Spartans are set to lose several key defensive players, including Jordan Turner, Cal Haladay, and Khris Bogle, after this season. Bringing in Kamara would provide valuable experience and a successful track record as an edge rusher from a Power Five program.
While the competition for Kamara may not be overly stiff, the early transfer portal process can extend over time. He still has ample opportunity to make a decision, and it remains to be seen if he will visit East Lansing before finalizing his choice.
