Insights On LA Kings’ Prominent Offense Sensation Is Great Waiver Wire Target In Fantasy Hockey

The 2024-25 NHL season is still in its early stages, and the same goes for fantasy hockey. Most managers are still figuring out their rosters and assessing their standings in the league, and with a long season ahead, there will be plenty of ups and downs.

That said, managers should stay proactive in exploring the waiver wire for players who could become key contributors later on. One such player is Alex Laferriere of the Los Angeles Kings, who is making a name for himself in the team’s offense.

Laferriere has taken over for Quinton Byfield on the Kings’ top line. Last season, he played 81 games and scored 12 goals and 11 assists, averaging 13:13 in ice time. However, this year, he’s skating on the top line with Anze Kopitar and Adrian Kempe, and his ice time has increased significantly to 16:50.

This increase in ice time has opened up more opportunities for the young forward, and he’s already made an impact with an assist in two games.

While it’s uncertain if Laferriere will replicate Byfield’s production from last year, it does give managers a glimpse of what to expect. Byfield, who played left wing alongside Kopitar and Kempe, finished with 20 goals and 35 assists and averaged 16:29 in ice time.

If Laferriere is available on the waiver wire, he’s definitely a player to pick up, as he’s likely to improve as the season progresses and should remain on the Kings’ top line.
